Cool Walk
Privacy
Last updated October 14, 2026
Cool Walk does not collect your data. It has no account, ads, analytics, or tracking. Wooten Labs does not receive your location, your routes, or your walk history.
Location
Cool Walk uses your location to center the map, find routes, guide an active walk, and record your progress. Background location is used only while a walk is active, so guidance and progress continue when your iPhone is locked or the app is in the background. The app uses motion data (your step cadence) only to keep guidance on the route when GPS is poor. Location and motion stay on your iPhone.
Maps, search, and driving estimates
The app uses Apple MapKit for maps, place search, geocoding, and driving estimates. Apple may process map requests and location information under its own privacy policy.
Route and voice downloads
The app downloads tree-canopy routing data for the area you view. If you turn on the optional natural voice, it also downloads a voice model. These files are served through Amazon Web Services. As with any web request, AWS handles technical information such as your IP address and the file requested while serving it. Route files can indicate the general area being viewed. Wooten Labs does not keep request logs for these files or use them to build a location history or advertising profile.
Walk history and iCloud
Saved routes, completed walks, timing, and recorded trail points are stored on your iPhone. If iCloud is available, the app mirrors walk history through Apple's iCloud key-value storage so it can follow you across your devices. Wooten Labs does not operate that storage or receive its contents. You can delete saved walks in the app and control iCloud in iOS Settings.
Diagnostics
The app keeps diagnostic logs on your iPhone and never sends them anywhere. Logs can contain precise coordinates, route details, and timestamps. If you choose to send one to support, Wooten Labs uses it only to look into your request and deletes it once the issue is resolved.
Your choices
- Deny or revoke location and motion access in iOS Settings.
- End an active walk to stop background location use.
- Delete saved walks in the app.
- Decline the optional natural-voice download.
